CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People

Our next Course Dates and Times – Feb 2025 to July 2025

Wednesdays weekly online 5.30-8.30pm and monthly full weekends in person at Emerald Therapy Services, Chester.

The Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People (CYP-L5) gives learners the knowledge, skills, and competencies to provide counselling to children and young people aged 11-18 years old. It is designed to offer the skills and development needed for a counsellor to work in settings such as schools, third sector organisations, for statutory bodies and in private practice.

During your time with us we aim to nurture you to be the best counsellor you can be. 

​

Our training room is designed to feel warm and comfortable, creating conditions in which you feel you are able to grow and feel safe, exploring new thoughts and ideas. 

​

Within this course you will undertake a variety of skills practices and assessments, personal development groups and group supervision. 

​

We hope you will embrace your time on the course and encourage you to learn from the tutors and each other, as well as grow, develop contacts and have fun.

Entry Requirements

Qualified at level 4 or above.

Additional Requirements

A minimum of 20 hours personal counselling undertaken during the lifetime of the course.

​

A minimum of 60 hours formally contracted counselling (one-to-one), with children and young people. The hours are to include client assessment and practice work with at least 4 different clients between the ages of 11-18.

​

Either group or one-to-one supervision – as per the supervision ratio requirements of the candidate’s chosen ethical framework or professional membership association.

Peer Supervision

Our peer supervision provides an ideal opportunity to meet with fellow professionals, discuss client cases and to participate in active and constructive discussion.
Having the ability to network with each other can make the counselling profession less isolating and more empowering.


Monthly sessions are the 1st Saturday of every month
10am-12pm

£10 per person including refreshments services


Hours can be used towards clinical supervision or as CPD hours.
